A fantastic movie, recently released to DVD, Lincoln Lawyer was suspenseful as much as it was captivating. A clever twist on the usual lawyer story, instead of having the righteous and morally sound attorney fighting for the rights of innocent citizens, the film turns the tables by bringing us a corrupt and “sleazy” lawyer who gets a spout of morality when he faces his worst fear: unrecognizable innocence. Bound by the law and attorney client privilege, Mick Haller (the main character played by Matthew McConaughey) realizes his client Roulet is actually guilty of not only the case on hand, but a murder which put an innocent man in prison for life, or 15 with parole. With legal accuracy keeping buffs at ease, the Lincoln Lawyer seems to diverge from the minute workings of the justice system and moves towards the clever and righteous mind of Haller. Though at points the movie seems to loose momentum, and the ending a bit prolonged and without closure, the entire feel of the movie was truly enticing. On a side note, the soundtrack of this movie was excellent, complementing the “bad ass” nature of Haller perfectly and just a great listen its entirety, featuring some of the greatest songs in funk, rap and blues.
